Severe pain (renal colic) ◯ ◯ Flank pain suggests calculi are located in the kidney or ureter. ◯

calculus moves through ureter
flank pain suggests calculus is where
kidney or ureter
flank pain that radiates to abdomen, scrotum, testes, or vulva suggests calculi is in
ureter or bladder
how is renal calculi confirmed
with x-ray of KUB
x-ray results contraindicated if
there is urinary obstruction
nursing care for renal calculi
collect all urine and send it for lab analysis
calculi can be passed through urine w/o intervention if it is less than
5mm
monitor what for patients with renal calculi
pain status; urine ph; and I &O; client closely
