The Renaissance marked the beginning of the “modern era” During the Renaissance, Europeans developed new ideas in art, gov’t, & human potential
Crusades
the crusades was a big war from 1096-1204 it was a war that involved religious people and people who wanted to take the land back and it ended with a new era called the renaissance
florence
The most important Italian city was Florence, where wealth from trade sparked the Renaissance
merchants
people who spread ideas, and people who like to trade and are big at what they do.
Nationalism
a nation that is becoming or that people are loyal to, it was a system that became big during the renaissance,
Hundred Years
From 1337 to 1453, England & France began a conflict for over hundred years
Cannon
a weapon made by the Chinese that uses gun powder, during the renaissance
Long Bow
a weapon made during the renaissance to help people fight with a better chance of winning and living
Pope
a church’s leader, who ruled the middle ages until the crusades
Catholic Church
a church for catholic people and a church that lead in the middle ages and that everybody put there loyalty in until the crusades
Bubonic Plague
it was a plague that killed 25 million people in 5 years
1/3 of Europe’s population, and people believed bathing in urine, praying, isolation, leaches, and placing dead animals In there homes would cure them.
Humanism
humanism was a new way of thinking, Humanists studied the “classical” ideas of Greece & Rome & believed that education could make the world a better place
Renaissance Man
The “ideal man” was well educated, smart, can dance, write poetry, & play music.
