An extremely wealthy family and merchants in Florence who set the groundwork of banking we have today.
Medici Family
The first great sculptor, Revived Greco-Roman style of art that could be of viewed from all sides and was very realistic. Created the “David”, was the 1st large, free standing, human sculpture of the Renaissance.
Donatello
Painter, Sculptor, architect, and poet. His art showed realism and the human body was very common throughout his creations to show detail and emotion. He painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel which shows biblical images and detail. Also created “Pieta” & “David”.
Michaelangelo
A true “Renaissance Man”, painted the Mona Lisa and an extremely famous painting of the Last supper. Famous for exploring and painting human anatomy.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Improved perspective and realism through studying Leonardo and Michelangelo. He used Greco-Roman Culture and Renaissance people in his art. The “School of Athens was his most favorable and greatest painting which had much depth and emotion.
Raphael
Florence’s greatest architect, he designed and built the Cuppolo of Maria Del Fiore Cathedral in Florence.
Filippo Brunelleschi
A poet who wrote many plays and performed them but his creations spread through the English Renaissance.
William Shakespeare
Ideas from previous artists spread to Northern Italy from merchants and scholars and developed his own characteristics as it spread.
Northern Renaissance
Known for its unique architecture and lasted throughout history and still stands today.
French Renaissance
Was know for its literature and plays of William Shakespeare for entertainment during this time and still have history from that today.
English Renaissance
Was most known for their realism in art and the depth and emotion of it.
Netherlands Renaissance
