Donatello
He was the 1st great sculptor of the Renaissance. He revived the classical, also Greco-Roman style of sculpture. These included very realistic sculptors. He sculpted the 1st large free standing human sculpture, “David”.
Michelangelo
He was one of the most famous Renaissance artists. He was a painter, sculptors, architect and poet. He sculpted “Pieta” and “David”.
Leonardo da Vinci
He was a painter, sculptor and an inventor. His art was known for incredible realism and emotion. He created the “Last Supper” which shows Jesus’s last meeting with the 12 apostles before his crucifixion. His greatest masterpiece was the “Mona Lisa”.
Raphael
He perfected Renaissance painting. He became the favorite painter of the Pope because of his amazing detailed paintings. They included famous Greek and Romans along with Renaissance people.
French Renaissance
The Renaissance in France was most known for it’s unique architecture.
Filippo Brunelleschi
He was Florence’s greatest architect. He studied the Roman Panthon when he built the Cuppolo of Maria del Fiore cathedral in Florence. He made dome inspired buildings.
William Shakespeare
He was an artist in London who was known for literature, plays and English art.
Northern Renaissance
It spread from Italy as scholars and merchants from other areas visited Italian city-states.
English Renaissance
The Renaissance in England was most known for literature and the plays of William Shakesphere.
Netherlands Renaissance
The Renaissance in the Netherlands was most known for it’s realism in art.
