Italian Wars and how it ended

A

as Italian city-states became rich other monarchs looked to control them and their wealth, in 1494 king Charles VIII of France led an army to Italy, Italian city-states asked the Spanish for help (which opened the door for foreign powers). The French and Spanish armies battled in Italy for the next 30 years and new kings would up the wars. Italian city-states suffered from the continual warfare. in 1527 the war ended when Spanish troops of king Charles I looted Rome
