A

A correct relation among parts. It means everything in a painting is in scale: people are in the right relation to buildings and other objects.

A

Painting with water on fresh wet plaster.

What is an “indulgence”?

A

To raise money, many Catholic monks and priests sold “indulgences”, to reduce the time that a soul would spend in “purgatory” after death. The more indulgences someone bought, the more of their sins would be forgiven and the quicker they would go to heaven.

A

A monk who objected to the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. He nailed his objections to the door of a church in a German city. He translated the Bible from Latin into German so everyday people could read it.

Martin Luther’s religious revolution which led to the “Protestant” church breaking from the Roman Catholic Church.
