Diagnostic Pattern
Externally-contracted wind-cold-dampness battling the body’s deficient normal qi, which is unable to expel the pathogenic influences.
Indications

pain and stiffness of the head and neck
soreness and pain of the extremities
focal distention and fullness of the chest
nasal congestion with loud nasal breathing

Cautions and Contraindications
The dose of Ren Shen should be carefully adjusted according to each patient’s condition. Bai Du San was originally designed for children. For adults who do not have significant qi deficiency, the dose of Ren Shen should be decreased. Bai Du San is a warm, acrid formula that is contraindicated in cases of exterior wind-heat invasion, interior heat, or yin deficiency with exterior invasion.
