Remote Learning/Environmental Impacts/Input & Output Devices Flashcards
What is remote learning?
Remote work is a working style that allows professionals to work outside of a traditional office environment. It is based on the concept that work does not need to be done in a specific place to be executed successfully.
Remote working could be done from home, in a café, on holiday
Name 2 benefits of remote learning
- Time cut from commuting
- Pollution cut from commuting
- Money saved from commuting
- Often remote working is more flexible (solves childcare issues)
Name 2 disadvantages of remote learning
- Lack of interaction with colleagues
- Lack of Motivation
- Not having the correct resources/ IT support
- Cost of personal bills (electricity, Wifi)
Name 3 environmental problems with printing
- Pollution
- Distribution/ transportation
- Amount of ink used
- Amount of paper used
- Surplus Prints
Name 3 ways to limit environmental problems when printing
- Limit amount of ink used in documents
- Make from recyclable/ biodegradable materials
- Make/ Print on materials that can be recycled
- Reduce the size of the document/ packaging
- Use environmentally friendly inks
- Efficient layout for manufacture of multiple parts
- Highlight recyclability of materials

Give 3 advantages to reproducing drawing using CAD
- Clarity
- More opportunities for different drawing types
- Update symbols (BSI) to keep drawing up to date
- Layers could be added
- Easier to modify
Give a disadvantage to reproducing drawings using CAD
- More time consuming than using a scanner.
Give an advantage to scanning drawings
- Quicker than starting from scratch
Give 3 disadvantages to scanning drawings
- Poor quality
- No edits can be made
- Updated BSI symbols might not be used
- Size of paper might be too big for scanner (Piece it together)
- Can’t use layers
- If you want to keep the same scale the drawing will need to be produced
on same size paper as original.
Give 2 disadvantages to multiple people working on the same drawing at once
- When both save, the work won’t merge
- Size differences can put everything off
- Might not both be working to the same standards
- Different opinions in relation to the design
- Incompatibility of files with different software
Give 2 advantages of having a paperless office
- Don’t have to buy and store paper
- Less physical space required
- Less waste
- Environmental impact
- Easier to share copies/ideas electronically
- Easier to make edits
