Compensatory damages; a sum of money designed to make plaintiff well off as he would have been if he never had been wronged.
Are designed to prevent harm before it happens, so that the issue of compensation never arises
Preventive remedies
Two forms of preventive remedies?
Declaratory and coercive

Injunction
What is an injunction?
An order from a court to litigants ordering them to do or refrain from doing a specific thing
Authoritatively resolve disputes about the parties rights, but they do not end in a direct order to a defendant
Declaratory remedies
Are designed to restore to plaintiff all that defendant gained at plaintiff’s expense.
Restitutionary remedies
Are designed to punish wrongdoers
Punitive remedies
are designed in aid of other remedies
