Omnipotent:
All-powerful. He has the power to do whatever he wants.
Omnibenevolent:
All loving.God loves all being
Omniscient
All knowing. God knows everything that has happened or is happening.
Bible
The Christian holy book
Old Testament
Deals with the ways that God related to the Jewish people throughout their history,
before coming of Jesus. It describes how God guided the Jews protecting them and sending them
messengers (prophets) to warn them when they were going wrong.
The law
first 5 books of the bible show how the Jews became the people of God – includes guidance on
how god wants them to live – including the 10 commandments.
History books
these show how God guided his people and how people often refused to listen.
Wisdom books:
these include prayers, psalms, books of advice and poems which show people how to
use God given talents to do what is right.
Prophet
these contain the words of inspired figures who were sent by God to teach people about how
God is active in this world
New Testament
based on the life and teaching of Jesus and the apostles (Jesus disciples)
Gospels
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. – these record the life of Jesus
Acts of the apostles
tell of the events of the early church after Jesus ascends back to heaven.
Epistles
(letters): teach Christians how to live by Jesus’ teachings and what it means to be Christians
Revelation
an apocalyptic book by john that many christens believe describes the end of the world
Myth
A story that conveys deep truths-but not in a literal way
