Statements about God are not subject to truth or falsity

The idea that words have the same meaning all the time
What does the word equivocal mean ?
The idea that the same word can be used with 2 completely different meanings
What is the Apopathic way of discussing God (via negativa) ?
The idea that we should only say what God is not to understand him
What is the Cataphathic way of discussing God (via positiva) ?
The idea that we should only say the positive things about God to talk about him
What does the term anthropomorphic mean ?
The tendency to describe something in human terms
What is Aquinas’ use of analogy aiming to do ?
Compare two ideas and concepts in order to help us understand the less familiar of them
What is the idea of Agnosticism ?
The idea that God’s nature and existence cannot be known
What does Tillich argue ?
That religious statements are not literally true, however religious language is something to be studied symbolically
