It’s when you read everything in the bible and think that everything can be taken metaphorically and it has another meaning to it
Describe the story Jonah and the whale
God commanded Jonah to do something for him but Jonah fled to sea. The ocean then became rough . Jonah told the crew to throw him overboard because it was his fault that the sea was rough. They tried to row but it didn’t work. They threw Jonah and the sea became calm. God sent a fish to swallow Jonah for three days and then spit him out.

It would mean that Jonah actually did get swallowed up by a big fish
