Q

In Acts, why did Jesus tell the disciples to wait for his gift/promise? Jesus’ Ascension??

A
  • Jesus instructed the disciples not to depart from Jerusalem but to wait for the promise of the Father.
  • He explained that while John baptized with water, they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from then.
  • This promise of the Holy Spirit was crucial for empowering them to be witnesses for Jesus in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
  • After this instruction, Jesus was taken up before their eyes in a cloud, ascending into heaven.
  • The disciples returned to Jerusalem, where they stayed in prayer and anticipation, waiting for the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise.

Q

How was the theme of the high priest shown in Hebrews? Why is this important?

A

The theme of Jesus as the high priest in Hebrews highlights His role as the perfect mediator between God and humanity, offering a once-for-all sacrifice for sins, unlike the repeated sacrifices of the Levitical priesthood. This establishes a new covenant, granting believers direct access to God and emphasizing Jesus’ empathy towards human weaknesses. This concept is crucial because it underscores the completeness of Jesus’ sacrifice, the permanence of redemption, and the intimate relationship believers can now have with God.

Q

With a paragraph about everything you know about Paul

A

Paul was born AD 10 in Tarsus and was one of the greatest missionaries and his family were tent makers. Paul had two names, Saul and Paul, he had two names because Saul was his Jewish name while Paul was his Roman name. Saul was his name when he would persecute Christians but through his conversion, his name was changed into Paul when he became a follower of Jesus Christ. Paul has two names therefore he is both a Roman and Jewish citizen. He wrote a total of 13 Pauline letters and consistently preached and followed God’s word. Before his conversion he was at the first martyr when Stephen was killed but didn’t do anything but watch. After his conversion he traveled with Barnabas on his first missionary journey, was arrested multiple times, had multiple plots to kill him, never stayed somewhere for more than 4 years, physically was escorted out of cities, didn’t get along with other religious leaders, and didn’t have great records. He is a saint and considered the Apostles to the Gentiles as he would spread Christianity outside of Christians.
