New testament
it contains the life of Jesus, his followers and the early Christian community
Old testament
the foundation, teachings before Jesus’ life, one is not the correction of the other
Testament
it means covenant, which is an agreement between two parties based on love
Septuagint
one of the Hebrew Bibles that was translated into Greek and with 7 added books
Parable
fictional stories with an important message about God’s love, human behaviour, or the Kingdom of Heaven. They are almost all found in the New Testament
Gospel
the “good news” of salvation
Innerancy
this means the Bible contains no errors regarding the truths God wanted to share with humanity about their happiness and salvation. It can be wrong about scientific or historical facts not related to God’s message
Covenant
a type of relationship between two parties based on love
Stewardship
the careful and responsible management of something
Creation
when God created the universe / when everything was created
Free will
to have the power to perform deliberate actions by one’s own responsibility
Grace
the free and undeserved help that God gives us to respond to his call to become children of God.
De-creation
the undoing of creation by taking apart what has been carefully put together
Sin
an inmoral act, hata is the Hebrew word for sin and it literally means “to miss the mark”
Vice
immoral or bad behaviour
Gluttony
it is the desire to consume more than that which one requires
Re-creation
it is creating again what was once destroyed
Forgiveness
an intentional decision to let go of resentment and anger
Ascension
Jesus ascending into heaven
Resurrection
the concept of coming back to life after death (ie. Jesus)
Beatitudes
they are the heart of Jesus’ preaching. They fulfill the promises by ordering them no longer merely to the possession of territory but to the Kingdom of heaven
Crucifixion
when Jesus was put to death on the cross
Inclusivity
including everyone without unjust discrimination. Christians are called to be inclusive not exclusive
Exclusivity
when we unfairly exclude people from our community. Christians are called to be inclusive not exclusive
Ageism
prejudice or discrimination against people of a particular age and especially against elderly
Racism
discrimination and prejudice against people based on their race or ethnicity
Stereotype
when we generalize about a group of people
Homophobia
the fear, hatred, discomfort with or mistrust of people who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual
Sexism
discrimination against a certain gender or sex
Prophet
people who receive a message from God and deliver that message to the king, religious leaders or sometimes the people in general
Sacrament
visible signs of God’s presence in the world
Disciple

Reconciliation
one of the seven sacraments; a sacrament of healing, it is making peace between two parties and involves confessing and repenting of one’s sins before a priest and acquiring absolution (forgiveness)
Body image
it is not the same thing as your actual appearance. It includes your whole physical self. Body image has to do not only with what your body looks like, but also with how your body works for you and how it suits the purpose of your life
Virtue
good habits that help us become our true selves, the people we are meant to be using the gifts or powers God has given us
Abstinence
to be abstinent is to not have sex. This avoids the problems of an unwanted pregnancy, STIs and potential emotional problems
Chastity
to practice chastity is to respect your sexuality as a gift from God

it is the brain’s ability to change
