Just war theory
A set of criteria a war has to meet before it can be justified
nuclear war
A war that makes use of nuclear weapons: weapons that create nuclear reactions in order to destroy huge areas and kill large numbers of people
weapons of mass destruction
weapons that can kill large numbers of people and/or cause great damage
chemical weapons
weapons that use chemicals to harm humans and destroy the natural environment
biological weapons
weapons that use organisms to cause disease or death
holy war
fighting for a religious cause or God, usually controlled by a religious leader
pacifism
The belief of people who refuse to take part in war and any other form of violence
terrorism
The unlawful use if violence, usually against innocent civilians, to achieve a political goal
torture
The use of severe physical or mental pain to punish someone or force then to do or say something
