Ethical principals
Every religion have social or ethical standards which represents the core values and principles of the religion and are supported by the believers in that community.
Ex. 10 commandments
Religious experience and spirituality
Personal experiences in which an individual is aware of the sacred/divine within their religion
Symbols and signs.
Symbols in religion are usually material objects used to represent something invisible.
Sacred texts
- One or many sacred books or writings central to the tradition
- Sometimes believed to be divinely or supernaturally inspired
Ex bible
Social Structure
Allocation of roles and responsibility to ensure maintenance and organisation within the tradition.
Beliefs
Faith in the existence of something not necessarily scientifically proven
Rituals
Observed worship practices intended to make contact with the sacred
Myths and other stories
- Important stories describing the relationship humans have with the divine or sacred teacher
- Shapes the identity of the community
- Helps to explain beliefs/traditions
