This is a theory by weber that is argued to have brought about social change by providing cultural conditions that enabled capitalism to develop
What were the two elements of calvinist beliefs that had brought about capitalism?
1) Pre Destination- They believed they were they were the elect who God had chosen for salvation and heaven and those who weren’t could never get there
2) The Protestant Work Ethic- Calvinists adopted a set of ideas and actions known as the protestant work ethic such as self discipline,hard work and thrift - Led to them being devoted to work which they called ‘Gods Calling’
