Reasons for capital punishment
🔺is a deterrent
🔺true form of retribution
🔺some people only understand the language of violence
🔺a life sentence is no longer for life and so doesn’t prove a point

Reasons against capital punishment?
🔺mistakes have been made in the past (eg sentencing the wrong person)
🔺doesn’t give the criminal a chance to change
