voluntary- asking for their life to end
involuntary- the person is capable of giving a response but is not given and opportunity to do
non-voluntary- doctor ending their lives because the person is too ill to ask to die

- goes against gods plan
- sanctity of life
- some might argue that this suffering brings then closer to god
- sometimes euthanasia is the most loving thing to do

- goes against the first moral precept
- can be more compassionate to help them end their life and cause them less suffering
- the Dalai lama suggested that euthanasia should be avoided except from in exceptional circumstances
