What is Heresy?
-A Heresy is a teaching that is contrary to the Church doctrine
What is a Ecumenical Council?
-An ecumenical council is a worldwide gathering of all the bishops called by the pope or approved by him
Who are the Fathers of the Church?
-The Fathers of the Church are all the Bishops and other writers during the first eight centuries of the Church whose writing helped develop the teachings of the Church are known as the Fathers of the Church
Why was the Council of Nicene created?
-The Council of Nicene resolves the truths about what Jesus said
Who convened the first Council of Nicaea?

What does the Nicene Creed say?
-It states that Jesus is the Son of God and is God
Why was the Council of Chalcedon created?
-The Council of Chalcedon was a heresy that claimed that Jesus was divine but not human. Pope Leo sent a letter to the Council saying that what they believed was wrong and that Jesus is both divine and human
What is the Trinity?
-The belief that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all one God
What is the Incarnation?
-Jesus was human and divine
What did Pope Leo the Great do?
- Pope Leo sent a letter to the Council of Chalcedon condemming their heresy.
- Pope Leo was also the first Pope with the title Great

- Many were baptized later in life than as an infant
- Had to say a statement of beliefs before being baptized which you still have to do today
