  • Brabantio says this is what will happen to society if they dont stop Othello and Desdemona being together
  • the adjective ‘savage’ further reinforces the idea of religious steotypes as it suggests anyone who is not chrsitian is violent and uncontrolled (which to some extents is accurate considering events and the end of the play

  • redemption is a deliverance from sin or damnation but could also refer to him being freed from capture
  • Othello converts to Christianity when he was captured by Venetian forces in Africa where he grew up ‘in the tented field’ as a Muslim warrior
  • suggests that he himself views muslim religion negatively
