what were the stages of a sacrifice?
go to the market and buy the animal with no blemishes
tie ribbons to horns and tail
read animal through the streets to the temple if animal didn’t want to go or stumbled it was seen as a bad omen
animals stunned by a hammer and slashed in the throat
animals innards were removed and a soothsager would examine. if the innards what discoloured or misshapen then it would declare bad omens
if inards were good they were burnt in the fire on the altar as an offering to the god and the rest of the meat was cooked and given out as a feast
