what was the covenant?

A

This covenant was a type of covenant in which Yahwe promised to be with his people if they in turn were faithful to his Laws. The Laws are laid down in the Torah, the Jewish holy book. Yahwe also promised to send his people a Saviour or messiah who would be a great king like king David of old when the Jews were a great nation.

A

Jesus was sentenced to death by Pilate for treason, because he claimed to be the King of the Jews. In fact the initials INRI, which appear above many crucifixes, stand for the charge against Jesus and mean Jesus or North, King of the Jews.
