Reliability Flashcards
refers to the consistency of test scores obtained by the same persons when they are re-examined with the same test on different occasions
Reliability
The extent to which a score or measure is free from measurement error. Theoretically, it is the ratio of true score variance to observed score variance
Reliability
Indicates the extent to which individual differences in test scores are attributable to TRUE DIFFERENCES in the characteristic under consideration, and the extent to which they are attributable to CHANCE ERRORS
Test Reliability
Represents any condition that is irrelevant to the purpose of the test.
Error Variance
Sources of Error Variance
- Test Construction
- Test Administration
- Test Scoring & Interpretation
This model considers the problems created by using a limited number of items to represent a larger and more complicated construct.
Domain Sampling Model
the correlation between the scores obtained by the same persons on the two administrations of the test
reliability coefficient
Repeating the identical test on a second occasion
Test-Retest Reliability
Occurs when the first testing session influences scores from the second session
Carryover Effect
When a test is given a second time, test takers score better because they have sharpened their skills by having taken the test the first time
Practice Effect
An alternative to test-retest reliability, it makes use of alternate or parallel forms of the test.
Alternate Form Reliability
A test is given and divided into halves that are scored separately. The results of one half of the test are then compared with the results of the other.
Split-Half Reliability
