Relays Flashcards
What is a relay?
A device that can control multiple circuits at a variety of voltages
Where are relays extensively used?
In industrial assembly lines, machine tool control, and commercial equipment
What are the typical coil ratings for a relay?
12v, 24v, 32v, 48v, 120v, and 240v
What is the typical contact amp rating?
0-.5 amps, 0-10 amps, and 0-25 amps
What are the types of relays?
EMR- Electromagnetic Relay
SSR- Solid State Relay
How are EMRs activated?
They are activated by some type of magnetic effect
What are the three classifications of EMRs?
Reed Relay
General Purpose Relay
Machine Control Relay
How can the contacts of a reed relay operate?
They can operate off of a permanent magnetic or D.C electromagnetic
What is a general purpose relay also referred to as?
Ice cube relay
