Emotional Intelligence
The ability to manage and regulate your own emotions while being aware of and understanding the emotions of others.
Steps to help you regulate your emotions:
- Name them
Name how you are feeling so you can begin to deal with them. - Understand them
Break down why you are feeling that way. - Choose a mood booster
Once you know your emotions, find a coping mechanism to help you deal with it.
What is the difference between verbal and non verbal communication:
Verbal is your use of words where as non-verbal is your body language.
How to establish boundaries in a relationship:
- Recognise your feelings
- Understand how your boundaries have been crossed.
- Think about how to set your boundaries.
- Back yourself.

- Recognise your own feeelings

Expressing your ideas and opinions with courage, while considering the feelings and thoughts of others.

Believing that you do not have to be the only one to ‘win’ an argument.
Define IBR (Interest-based relationship approach):
- Make good relationships a priority
- Separate people from problems
- Listen carefully to different interests.
- Listen first, talk second.
- Set out the ‘facts’.
- Explore options together.
Restoration after conflict:
- do not be defensive
- avoid criticising the other person
- learn to opologise
- learn to forgive
