When does termination of parental rights occur involuntarily?

A

Only upon judicial determination. Each jurisdiction provides the statutory grounds and requirements for termination of parental rights, which can include abandonment, incapacity, abuse of sibling, termination of parental rights over a sibling, and abuse of neglect of the child over a period of time, or when the child has been placed outside the home and not with a relative for a certain period of time With no successful reunification.

What are the legal effects of adoption?

A

The adoptive parents have all the rights and responsibilities that the biological parents would have had in the adopted child has all the rights and responsibilities that a biological child would’ve had. Majority of jurisdiction will not permit visitation between the adopted and biological parents.
