relationship Flashcards
how do nature areas benefit people
lowering air temp., removing pollutants, providing space for recreation
how do nature areas lower air temp
provides shade, reduces amt of direct sunn that reaches the surface
how do nature areas remove air pollutants
during photosynthesis, vegetation absoorbs CO2 and releases oxygen
small particles are intercepted by leaves and are washed to the ground whhen it rains
what are the disadvantages ppl bring nature
causing soil erosion, damaging vegetation, worsening pollution, disturbing wildlife
how do ppl cause soil erosion and damage vegetation
- they may cause soil compaction, preventing rainwater from infiltrating the ground. leads to higher surface flow and soil erosion
- they may trample on the vegtation, damaging plants annd affecting their grwoth
how do ppl worsen pollution
- litter, animals can get cut by metal cans or become entangled with plastic bags and containers
- some animals may also mistake litter for food and consume them. this causes the animals to gget hurt, and may eventually die
how do ppl distub wildlife
ppl feed wildlife –> can increase human-wildlife conflicts if animals associate hummans with food
reasons why human-wildlife encounters are increased
uurban expansion, ppl’s growing interest in ourdoor recreation, greening efforts by the state
how do nature bring disadvantages to ppl
nature may harm ppl if they are provoked or feeling confused and fearful
how does urban expansion increase human-wildlife encounters
continous developments cause animals to venture out of their habitats in search of food or shelter
how does urban ppl’s growing interest in ourdoor recreation increase human-wildlife encounters
ppl are spending more time ourdoors and in nature areas - increases frequency of encounters
how does urban greening efforts by the state increase human-wildlife encounters
sg aims to bring nature back into the city and promote human-wildlife encounters
