Relations and Functions Flashcards
-a set of ordered pairs (inputs and outputs)
Relations
-the set of first values (inputs) in the ordered pair.
- usually represented as x
Domain
-the set of second values (outputs) in the ordered pair.
- usually represented as y
Range
Types of Relation
- One-to-One Relation
is a set of ordered pairs (x, y) such that no two ordered pairs have the same x-value but different y-values.
Function
is a pair of numbers in a specific order.
Ordered pair
is method that is used to determine whether a given curve or graph is a function or not. A graph represents a function if and only if no vertical line intersects the graph in more than one point.
Vertical Line Test
is to substitute (replace) its variable with a given number or expression
To evaluate a function
