Qiang Huo (notopterygium) (release the exterior herb)
C: dispels wind-cold & dampness, alleviates pain
Releases the exterior and disperses cold: for exterior cold patterns with such symptoms as chills, fever, headache, body aches and pains.
Du Huo (angelica root) (dispels wind-damp)
C: dispels wind-cold & dampness, alleviates pain
Ren Shen (Panax ginseng) (tonifying Qi herbs)
A: strengthens Qi, generate fluid, strengthens resistance
Chuan Xiong
D: releases the exterior, moves BLOOD, dispels wind
Chai Hu (bupleurum, hares ear root)
D: releases the exterior, reduces FEVER, dispels WIND
(Resolves lesser yang disorders and reduces fever: for alternating chills and fever) restores the normal movement of Liver qi in order to relieve Liver qi constraint.
Bo He (mint)
D: releases the exterior, reduces FEVER, dispels wind
Jie Geng (baloonflower root)
A: ascends vs. descends - regulates qi flow in chest
Zhi Ke (bitter orange peel) (regulates Qi)
A: ascends vs. descends => regulates qi flow in chest
Promotes the flow of qi: for qi stagnation leading to problems in the flow of qi such as cough, distention, or constipation.
Qian Hu (hogfennel root) cool and transform phlegm-Heat
