Regenerative Farming Flashcards
What is regenerative farming?
Agroecological farming practices that enhance the soil health and biodiversity in a similar manner to organic systems
Regenerative agriculture is simple:
It is any form of farming e.g. the production of food or fibre, which at the same time improves the environment
What are the 5 principles of regenerative farming?
Don't disturb the soil. Keep the soil surface covered. Keep living roots in the soil. Grow a diverse range of crops. Bring grazing animals back to the land.
What does regenerative farming increase resilience to?
Extreme weather
What does regenerative farming improve?
Water quality and biodiversity of local rivers and lakes
What are the crops more resilient to?
Extreme weather, pests and diseases
What is putting stress onto farming?
Mass migration, increasing temperature and drought
Why are chemicals negative for soils?
They disrupt their ability to build and trap carbon
