What is a migrant?
Migrant = worker who moves from place to place to do work
What does abandon mean?
Abandon = to give up completely a course of action, a practice, a way of thinking
What are wages?
Wages = payment for labour or services to a worker
What does persecuted mean?
Persecuted = subjected to hostility and ill-treatment
What is conflict?
Conflict = a serious disagreement or arguement
When does migration happen?
When food supplies dwindle because of overgrazing, soil erosion or when forests are cut down. Lack of water and overpopulation also play a role in this.
What is an environmental factor?
Environmental factor = an identifiable element in the physical, cultural, demographic, economic, political, regulatory or technological environment.
What does it mean to dwindle?
Dwindle = to become gradually less until little remains
What does it mean to migrate?
Migrate = move from one area or country to settle in another
