What is refraction?
A
The process of light changing speed as it moves from one medium to another.

What is the refractive index?
A
The measure of the change of the speed of light as it passes from a vacuum to a substance/material/medium.

What is total internal reflection?
A
When the angle of incidence is greater than that of the critical angle light cannot pass through the surface and is called total internal reflection.

A
When the angle of refraction is perpendicular (at right angles / 90 degrees) to the normal.
