the redistribution of land strengthened the upper classes and tied them to the Tudor dynasty and the new Protestant church

Many people were opposing the religious changes in the north, and the Pilgrimage was the largest rebellion in history.

The Institutes of the Christian Religion (1536)- he believed in absolute power of God and the total weakness of humanity.

The teaching that God has determined the salvation or damnation of individuals based on his will and purpose, not on their merit or works.
