What is an indulgence?
A piece of paper signed by the church that was supposed to forgive whoever bought it of their sins and get them to Heaven. You could also buy one for a loved one (who had already passes away) to get them into Heaven.
Who was John Tetzel?
A friar who travelled around towns and villages in Germany, selling indulgences
