reflection of light Flashcards
what does the law of reflection state?
it states that the angle of incidence (i) is equal to the angle of reflection (r)
What are the primary colours?
red, green and blue
what are the secondary colours?
yellow, magenta and cyan
what happens when you mix 2 primary colours?
creates a secondary colour
when you mix all of the spectrum, what colour does it make?
white
what colour will a red object reflect?
- reflect red light but absorb other colours
will a transparent object reflect light, if not what will happen?
- it allows the incident light to pass through
- none is absorbed
will a translucent object reflect light, if not what will happen?
- lets the light pass through but it is scattered or refracted
- a frosted window would be translucent
will an opaque object reflect light, if not what will happen?
no light passes through
define converge
converge = the line will meet at a point
define convex lens
causes parallel rays of light to converge to a point called the principal focus or focal point
define concave lens
causes parallel rays of light to diverge as if they had come from a point called the principal focus
give the magnification equation
magnification = image height/object height
- looking at a blue object under a green light, it appears…
- viewing a blue object under a cyan light, it appears…
- viewing a blue object under a yellow light, it appears…
- black
- blue
- black
the student repeated the measurement three times and calculated the mean to reduce the effect of… errors
What 1 word completes the sentence?
- random
