Reflection of Light Flashcards
1
Q
specular reflection (regular reflection)
A
a beam of light is bounced back from a shiny polished surface (mirrors)
2
Q
diffused reflection
A
a parallel beam of light is bounced back at different directions when they come into contact with irregular surfaces (paper)
3
Q
explain the 3 laws of reflection
A
- if the object is opaque (wood), the transmission is interrupted
- if the object is transparent (glass), light passes through
- if the object is a mirror (see notes)
4
Q
concave
A
inside of the curved space is polished (shaped like a cave)
5
Q
convex
A
outside of the curved space is polished
6
Q
centre of curvature
A
the centre of a curved reflecting surface
7
Q
radius of curvature
A
any straight line drawn from the centre of curvature to the curved space
8
Q
principle axis
A
the straight line passing through the vertex and the centre of curvature
