Reflection and Refraction Flashcards
Law of Reflection?
When a ray of light reflects off a surface, the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection
What is The Normal?
When a line is drawn perpendicular to the reflecting surface at the point of incidence
What is Virtual Image?
It appears to come from behind the lens and cannot be projected onto a screen
What is Refraction?
Change in the direction of a wave
Why Does Light Refract At A Boundary When It Crosses Two Mediums?
Change in speed
How Does The Density Of A Medium Affect Refraction?
Affects the speed a wave will be transmitted through it
What Colours Are In The Visible Spectrum?
Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet
How Does A Colour Filter Work?
They absorb certain wavelengths of colour and transmit the other wavelengths allowing them to be seen
What Are The Primary Colours Of Light
Red
Green
Blue
Why Do Surfaces Appear
Red/White/Black?
They absorb all colour but reflect none
What Is The Focal Length Of The Lens?
When the lens is focused on infinity
How Can A Focused Image Be Produced By A Camera Lens?
The camera and lens work together to change the distance of the lens from the sensor or film
