reflection Flashcards
1
Q
what is total internal reflection?
A
- incident angle greater than critical angle
> rays are reflected back into same medium as incident ray - high to low index interface
- effect of total internal reflection at the cornea
> light returning from the angle is totally internally reflected within the cornea - application of total internal reflection at the cornea in other assessment is gonioscopy
2
Q
speculate/regular reflection
A
reflected light leaves surface in definite bean(follows law of reflection)
3
Q
diffuse/irregular reflection
A
incident light reflected in all directions(does not follow law of reflection)
4
Q
what is critical angle?
A
- incident angle that yields refracted angle of 90 degree
- only for high to low index interface
