Redundant Site Considerations Flashcards
What is a Redundant Site?
Alternative site for backup incase the primary location encounters a failure or interruption
What’s a Hot Site?
Site that is up and running continuously and can switch from the main site to a backup site with no downtime and issue
Downside: expensive
What is a Warm Site?
A partially equipped backup site
Can become operational within days of a primary site disruption
A lot cheaper but low response time
What is a Cold Site?
A site with no immediate equipment or infrastructure but can be transformed into a functional backup facility
What is a Mobile Site?
a mobile site can be a hot site, a warm site, or a cold site, it just depends on how you want to configure it
Often in the form of trailers or tents that will be delivered to your location
What is Virtual Site?
Utilizes cloud-based environments and offers highly flexible approach to redundancy
Virtual Warm Site: Instantly accessible
Virtual Warm Site: Partially replicated and scalable
Virtual Cold Site: Minimal activation to minimize costs
What is Platform Diversity?
critical aspect of designing and implementing effective virtual redundant sites
What is a Cloud-Provider Platform Diversity?
Spreading resources across multiple cloud providers reducing the risk of a single platform outage
