Hollywood Ten
a group of 10 screenwriters, editors, directors, and authors in Hollywood accused of being communists. They did not cooperate with HUAC’s hearings on anti-communist activity and were arrested, then blacklisted.
John Howard Lawson
an American playwright, he refused to answer questions about his alleged Communist Party affiliation, he were cited for contempt of Congress and sentenced to a year of prison
Dwight Eisenhower
34th president of US; worked to discredit McCarthy and his tactics strongly disliked him
Nuclear Family
a family consisting of two parents and their children. This family is expected to live together in one household
HUAC
House of Un-American Activities Committee, investigate alleged disloyalty and rebel activities on the part of private citizens, public employees and organizations suspected of having Communist ties.
