3 mos: no cooing
1 yr: no response to name. No ‘mama, dada’
18 mos: no words, no pointing, no imaginary play
2 yrs: no talking
2-3 yrs: sparse vocab, frustration w/ inability to communicate may lead to tantrums. No >2 word sentences, doesnt follow directions.
3 yrs: not talking in sentences. Disinterested in stories.
3-4 yrs: speech not comprehensible to strangers. Cannot use language to tell stories.
4 yrs: not telling stories
5 yrs: Can’t tell story w/ beginning, middle and end. Poor grammar in sentences (should be adult-like)

No babbling or gesturing at 1 yr.
No single words by 18 mos.
No 2 words at 2 yrs.
Loss of social or language milestones.
