This amendment was written to guarantee that slavery would never exist in the Us again.

It was specifically talking about former slaves.

The 15th was written to give former male slaves voting rights. Any citizen, born or naturalized can benefit from it today

Former soldiers and prisoners of war who agreed to defend the US Constitution

States had to approve the 13th Amendment, nullify their succession, and agree not to repay those who financed the Confederacy.

The Congressional Plan: The Republicans considered the Southern states conquered territory and wanted to punish the South for the Civil War. All states pass the 14th and 15th Amendments.

Ku Klux Klan was a group that used racial violence and intimidation tactics. They were against the Freedmen’s Bureau. The KKK was made up of many free Confederate slave owners.

In 1867, African-Americans won numerous local and state offices.
Why did the US Congress believe the Southern states were not adequately reconstructed? What did they do?
Georgia and other Southern states passed the “Black Codes” that restricted the rights of Freedmen. The US Congress sent in the military and ruled the Government through the military.
Who was Henry McNeal Turner?
He was one of the first Black Legislators in Georgia
