Poll tax- was to charge freedmen to be able to vote
Literacy test- designed for freedmen to fail
Grandfather clause- anyone who’s grandpa voted Can also vote without having to pay or do the test.

Describe the beliefs of the “Radical Republicans” in Congress.
Radical republicans believe in restoring the South by helping the freedmen with citizenship and right to vote. Wanted to treat the south as conquered country

Freedmen bureau promoted advanced education, help freed alces and poor whites with basic needs, relieved for war refugees with rations and clothing
Why did terrorist groups like the KKK arise in the south?
Wanted to prevent blacks, scalawags, carpetcagggers and republicans from policial participation. Maintain white supremacy in the southern government and social life.
Explain the presidential reconstruction?
Presidential reconstruction wanted the south to join the union quickly as possible without causing tension. Healing the south.

The period of United States history immediately following the civil war, from 1865,1877

Removal of the federal troops in the south
