Q

how to decide which size reciproc file to use

A

ISO 20 file goes passively to working length = R40

ISO 30 goes to length = R50

Q

how to create coronal flare with reciproc

A
  • estimated working length
  • fill canal with irrigant
  • set stopper to 2/3 est. working length
  • 3 pecks not exceeding 3mm with very light pressure
  • remove and clean instrument
  • irrigate
  • recapitulate with size 10 (lifts debris into solution)
  • stop at 2/3 working length
  • measure corrected working length with size 10/15 file and apex locator
  • corrected WL -0.5mm from apex locator reading

Q

when to finish prep using R25?

A
  • if ISO size 10 file goes to working length
  • if ISO 10 only goes to working length pre curved then establish glide path with ISO 15
  • if ISO 15 goes to working length ( without being pre curved ) then can finish prep with R25
  • if not then finish prep with hand instruments or reciproc blue

Q

how to apical gauge (R25)

A
  • 25 k file placed in root canal
  • if it binds at length then most likely binding at apex (which is what we want)
  • should be just before 0 on apex locator
  • if hit 0 then increase prep diameter (most likely to R40)
