Receiver Principles Flashcards
3 main requirements of an efficient receiver?
Select, extract, produce
Define purpose of a receiver
Converts EM energy into usable energy and outputs a reproduction of the original signal
4 main receiver characteristics?
Sensitivity, selectivity, stability, noise
What am I? Carrier signal, in it’s raw state carries no information?
RF or carrier
What am I? Intermediate step in reception and production of an audio freq?
IF
Range of audible frequencies?
20Hz to 20000Hz
The method of producing an audio frequency by mixing two waveforms together is known as?
Heterodyning
What does a receiver use to select the wanted signal, whilst rejecting others?
Filter
Name the filter. Passes all freq below selected freq and rejects all freq above.
Low pass filter
Name the filter. Passes all freq above selected freq and rejects all freq below
High pass filter
Passes all freq within band and rejects all freq above and below band
Band pass filter
Name the filter. Passes all freq above and below band, rejects all freq within band
Band reject filter
Name the filter. Band reject filter with very narrow stopband
Notch filter
Name the terminology. Frequencies that are retained by the filter, and will appear in output signal.
Passband
Name the terminology. Frequencies that are removed by the filter, and do not appear in output signal
Stopband
