REBT Flashcards

Q
What are the three ‘main insights’ of REBT?
A
- You mainly create your own emotional disturbances by the irrational beliefs you tell yourself
- No matter when you started to disturb yourself, if you are upset today, you are still believing some dogmatic irrational beliefs
- To eliminate your anxiety, loneliness, depression and rage, there is no way but work and practice, yes work and practice

- Expectations: how things ought to be e.g. I should be able to use my left side
- Evaluations: what the event means e.g. I’m useless/can’t stand it/it’s awful
- C = Emotional Consequence
- D = Dispute
- E = New emotional effect
