1. Identify issue that needs assessing.
2. Set the standards against which the assessment will be based.
3. Collect data pertaining to issue.
4. Analyse the data to assess level of compliance with standard.
5. Make recommendations to improve practice and seek implementation of these recommendations.
6. Re-audit to ensure standard is better met after implementation.
