Evidence- support your argument with evidence. This includes research, in-text citations, and examples.
Explain R
Reason- where you state purpose of the paragraph. Referred to as the argument or the thesis statement. The thesis statement should answer how and what.
Explain A
Analysis- explanation of how and why your evidence supports your argument
Explain L
Link- concluding sentence that answers “so what?” Always connect what you have said in the body paragraph to the argument as a way to conclude your paragraph and transition to your next.
What is a thesis statement?
It is a statement that says what the idea is, how/why the idea is valid, in the introduction if it is multiple paragraphs, and it is the first sentence if it is one paragraph.
