What is tolerance in regards to blueprints?
Difference between the highest and lowest allowable limits for a dimension between parts.
How is a centerline drawn in drafting diagrams?
With a thin line interrupted with short dashes. locates centers of round features
What is a sectioned drawing?
It shows a part that shows as if it has been cut in half to show inner working. The cut surfaces are indicated with crosshatched lines.
Describe a pulley.
Continuous lever with equal arms
What is the first number in thread specifications?
It is the nominal size ( approximate overall diameter of the threads of the bolt.
What is a class 1 fit in regards to thread fit.
A class 1 fit is the loosest fitting threads there are with class 3 being the tightest.
What are the letter designations in thread specifications?
A- external threads
B-internal threads ^must be indicated in a drawing.
What is RH and LH in regards to thread specification>
RH-clockwise
LH-counter-clockwise
They indicate the rotation for screw advancement. LH must be indicated in a drawing.
A welding symbol on a blueprint is indicated by what symbol?
an arrow pointing to the location of the weld.
What type of pulley is needed when using a V belt?
A grooved pulley also called a sheave.
What is a compound rest on a lathe?
It is the base for mounting tool holders on the lathe. It is located on the saddle of the lathe.
What is an exploded view diagram?
It shows all the internal parts of the mechanism but shows them seperated from one another
What are the different parts of compound rest?
There are two. The lower part is called the compound rest symbol. The upper is the rest top.
What type of drawing shows a three dimensional object on a two dimensional plane?
Orthographic projection.
